Fear. Maybe the final hurdle.

As a comms guy, I make the case for certain strategies. As video guy, I make the case for certain tactics. As a nonprofit guy, I connect certain dots. But all this knowledge is useless because of the FEAR of getting on camera... and that's fair. There are so many deep psychological reasons for this fear, but I'm not here to force anyone. But, I gotta say...


... the overlap of tech, social, branding, and action is screaming the opportunity that YOU show up for your cause — YOU, the person.


If I'm going to sign up for a program, donate money, or volunteer, I'd love to know who I am literally handing money to. Instead, we are met with images of sad homeless people (ie. sadvertising) or stock images of sexy actors pretending to be call centre staff (ie. deception). Tech has eliminated distance, yet we maintain distance. It's weird.


There are bazillions of smart, hardworking, persuasive people behind the scenes and if only we could see you. Many of you tell me "when we get in a meeting or on the phone, people are convinced right away. It's a no-brainer" ... so BRING THAT to your communications. Find the courage to show up on video... somehow.
